Silent Agreements become False Realities

I never wanted to be that person who only sought after God during the good times, as long as he was giving me what I wanted but when the bad times came, lost all hope in him. Sadly I see a lot of people go through this cycle, or roller coaster ride with God. Always up and down, back and forth but never steady.

The crazy thing is when I take a step back and examine my own walk with God, I think it’s safe to say I have passed the test of trusting him through the difficult times recognizing through experience & overtime that he knows best. It’s the blessings that confuse me. It’s when he shows up and answer prayers and lavishes his love on me when doubt creeps in. I question him not in the storm but on the mountaintop. How absurd is that?!!

James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in ALL his ways.

Questions like “Is this real?” Or thoughts such as “This is too good to be true”, kind of floods your mind and before you know it a door was opened and fear walked right on in. We then are discouraged, distracted just enough for God and his perfect love to be removed off the throne of our heart, now overtaken by fear, lies & deceit.

It’s not the thoughts that opened the door, rather the silent agreement made when we didn’t speak truth in those moments of doubt.

We get comfortable and become stagnant as well as complacent in our storm that we self-consciously reject the breakthrough.

The reality is, Yes, we are so undeserving of God’s grace but it’s the receiving of that grace and our faith in Christ that makes us heirs and accepted. It’s our hope in what Christ did on that cross that gives us confidence not only in the storm but more assuredly in the blessing because of the position we held during the storm. We fought humbly on our knees and have found rest in our Papas bosom which in return gave us peace and the confidence needed to boldly face the storm, knowing God is where our help comes from. He is our defender, he is our rock and he is our victor! So we then can be expecting the breakthrough and confidently embrace it when it comes.

Where are you positioned currently? He is the same God during the storm that he is during the blessing/breakthrough.

Know who you are today! You are called and have been chosen. You were bought at high cost. Take your position wisely. Speak the Truth.Don’t be silent. You aren’t an orphan but a daughter/son of the most high. Find rest in him. Receive his love. He’s waiting.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you : my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand

Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged

Stand

To guard is to watch over in order to protect or control.
Guarding our heart is so critical in maintaining a holy and righteous life required of us as believers yet I rarely see it being lived out to its full potential.

Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Jeremiah 17:9-10 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”

Matthew 15:19  “For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft ,false witness, slander.”
I’m convinced that there is no “self-help” or man-made strategy as to how to guard our hearts. Even the best sounding logical strategy could lead us down the road to an impure heart. Only Gods truth and his word can purify the heart. His word, His statuses, His way, is what purifies the heart.
Psalm 119:9-11 “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
Guarding our heart from people isn’t biblical though many of us somehow get that from scripture. We guard our heart from the lies people may speak yes but not the actual person. There is a huge difference. Guarding our heart from people is associated with rejecting people and being distant out of fear. To be watchful doesn’t require us to run but to stand our ground and protect (guard).

The problem is we know what we are protecting but don’t fully understand what we are protecting our hearts from! We are watchman not knowing what we are watching for!

All we know is something causes our emotions to react so we either just run or we fight the wrong way! We fight from the feelings or the pain rather the truth that triumphs over any lie or what may even be true. Furthermore, it’s because we don’t even know what “the truth” is! We aren’t confident in “the truth” which is the actual guard we use to protect our hearts! We are on the battle field using the wrong shield or form of protection wondering why we seemingly keep losing!

THE BATTLE IS ALREADY WON!

YOU FORFEIT WHEN YOU RUN FROM YOUR POSITION AS GUARD!

Friends, Gods truth is our guard!
If you don’t know “The truth” how are you guarding your heart? Not knowing it is an easy target for the enemy to get you to blame people and even yourself and ultimately take you from your position as a watchman and run but listen,

Ephesians 6:10-18! READ IT!

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

THE BATTLE IS ALREADY WON!

What are you running from, Victory? God’s word is how we fight!
The enemy’s strategy is to make you think you’ve lost. God is just asking that you guard, protect and watch over what he has already freely given to us!
The victory belongs to Jesus!

It was finished on the cross!

You Are Valued

A friend recently shared with me how he was being more intentional with the people currently in his life. How he was thinking about all of the friendships he currently had in order to examine the “value” found in each relationship. What value he brought to each person and vice versa.

You know in that moment of hearing him speak about “value”, I though how I’d never really been that intentional with my friendships or relationships period. I mean yes, I believe God has blessed me with some pretty awesome discernment to where I always know what place an Individual would hold in my life but not to the extreme of the actual value each person held in my life.

Then, while thinking about “value” just the other day,God asked me,
“Do you know your own personal worth and value that you bring to the people around you?”.

(I love how God always asks me questions though he already knows the answer )

The answer was no.

I realized I struggle with seeing the importance of many friendships and relationships to the point where I push away the very people who actually do bring so much value to my life because I didn’t think or believe in my own value that I bring to the lives around me. How could I begin to recognize and be grateful for someone else’s value that they bring to the table when I didn’t even understand or see my own?

If we dig deeper the root of the issue is the fear of rejection.

This often times exist due to bad experiences where someone chose not to see our value but spoke many things over us that weren’t truth! (We were rejected) It’s easier to think of yourself as expendable then to think of yourself as holding value when you’ve been rejected before. Therefore we are fearful to even consider the importance we actually do hold in the lives of the people around us because that would actually mean that we were worth something.  Furthermore meaning that the person who chose not to see our value was wrong and what they spoke was a lie! That would also require us to come out of our shell or comfort zone, walk in confidence knowing we carry something so precious, great and important that no one else carries because there is only one Asyia Bryanna Harrison and likewise there is only one you!

Let me ask you, what value do you bring to the lives of the people around you? Are you confidently walking in this?

Look, no one is perfect so if there is someone in your life holding your imperfections over your head, treating you any less than the valuable goods you are then maybe they shouldn’t have a spot in your life. Recognize your worth and the value you hold. Don’t let anyone damage your goods.
You matter.
You bring something what is it?

Moving Forward In A Backwards World

Ever feel like you are running the 100 meter dash but only the track officials didn’t get the memo that the wind is blowing in the opposite direction in which you were currently faced to run against? Of course you have. We all have or at some point in our lives will conclude that living a just and set apart life is not at all easy and in fact everything the world around us throws at us is the exact opposite of how we truly should live.

1. GUARD YOUR HEART
The biggest concern I have with this generation of people is we are some prideful and so full of ourselves to the point where we will literally tear another down with our words yet justify it by saying we were “just telling the truth” or “keeping it real”. Watch the things you allow to be spoken over you! Someone else’s feelings or opinions about you no matter how “logical” or “true” they may sound does not define or dictate who you are. Never agree with anything less than what our Papa has called you to be. I don’t care what you have done good or bad, you are not defined by the things you do or don’t do. Sadly the enemy will use people to speak the same lie he has been trying to speak over you in order to make you finally give in and believe it! That’s why we should be quick to listen and slow to speak because everything we speak holds weight and its either life or death. I’m learning to speak truth always even if I made a true statement about a person but again, what’s true does not mean it is truth!

2. DON’T LOOK BACK
The easiest way to end up going backwards is by simply looking back! A lot of time God will confirm and approve the very things we begin to question when the road gets rocky because surely this isn’t what God had in mind or surely Gods plan for me wouldn’t be this hard right? Well my friend think again. Yes God wants the absolute best for us but a lot of times you are faced with hardship not to destroy you but to build character. Often times we run from the very situations God allowed in order for him to reveal things in us that still needs to die or things he is still wanting us to claim and walk in. When did any of the chosen and or called people in the Bible have it easy? It’s when you are at the end of your road that God wants to step in and lead, but you have to be willing to get behind him. Not turn around and go backwards because you thought you missed a turn, no go forward, keep pushing but only this time use the navigation system God has given us!(Holy Spirit) Our God specializes in using the most jacked up situations to turn them into the most precious but YOU HAVE TO BE WILLING TO ALLOW HIM TO! DON’T GO BACKWARDS!

3. FIND JOY
Finding Joy is so key! There is always good to be found in EVERY situation. Yes I said every situation. That may be a hard pill to swallow but…well…… its true. I try to focus on the positive not the negative. So if you got negative people around you….yeeeaaaah…probably want to throw them away. Lol If you aren’t at a place where you can be the light for them trust me they will begin to be the light for you, only their light is very dim and not really light at all but darkness. Breathe. Cry when you have to because there is so much healing when we humble ourselves and let the tears fall. God is so close to the broken-hearted. Remember that! Find strength in Joy!

4. SPEAK LIFE
Again, I can’t stress how important it is to speak life not death over yourself! The enemy only knows what you tell him! He is as smart as you think he is. Your situation is a big as you think it is. Besides, the enemy ain’t to smart he was thrown out of heaven! Lol He was the highest of all angels yet was not satisfied and desired to be GOD. Like what an idiot huh? Lol Look..he is already defeated meaning he is as powerful as we make him! God has given us power, authority and dominion over him and all his little baby army fallen angels. Know your role! Speak from the position of authority that God has given you! Speak scripture(truth) over you and the people around you and watch your atmosphere change!

5. RUN
Whatever you do DON’T STOP! Keep pushing through no matter what you are faced with or are up against. God is with you. He has promised never to leave or forsake us. Call on him always and he will answer! Be open to the seasons he wants you to walk through. Never try to dictate or plan your own path but in all you do submit it to the Lord and he will make your paths straight!

What Would Jesus Do

I’m so thankful we have Jesus as the ultimate model to look to when things get a bit shaky in our everyday lives. If man were our only model or representation as to what we mimic in our times of hardship and times of happiness we’d be doomed. Man Repeatedly gets it wrong over , and over, and over in scripture yet God sill considers man, calls man, chooses man, blesses man and of course loves man.( Psalm 8:4-6)

I believe this will forever be a mystery and continue to go over our heads as to why God loves us the way he does. Gods love for us goes against every self protected, self glorified, or self driven love this world tries to convince us daily that we should pursue. Of course, God demonstrates love in the most incomparable way by sending Jesus to be the sacrificial lamb without blemish for our sins. (John 3:16 , John 1:29 & 1 Peter 1:18-19)

We all struggle with pride. It is the ugliest sin (in my opinion). In all sin you are bound to find pride (self) somewhere in the root that aided tremendously in the fulfillment of the actual sin. Jesus was the complete opposite. He embraced humility so gracefully because his mindset or determination or call wasn’t about him (self) but us. Ultimately he was filled and led by the Holy Spirit which will supersede and overpower self when the heart is willing. Jesus was willing.

To live a life with the constant reminder of “What would Jesus do?”, would be a life full of humility, grace, love, purpose & Holy Spirit.

Humility: You wouldn’t have to “defend yourself”when offense or disrespect was taken because that’s what God promises us he will do and be! He is our defender. You could hold a conversation when differences are being discussed and it not lead to a heated argument or a fight.

Grace: You would see past your feeling and emotions and be able to forgive and graciously interact with others who may not always get it right. You would know that you aren’t perfect and that it is only by the grace of God that you are here and that same grace was not just given to you only but every person freely. Yes the person that gets on your nerves the most! Haha!

Love: You would know God and the intensity of his love for you to the point where you’d have no choice but to give it away to others. Love is…..(1 Corinthians 13:4-5)

Purpose: You would know who you are and why you are here. In every season you would persevere because you know your purpose isn’t about you but how God wants to use you for the betterment of others. Helping others would be your drive which leaves no room to glorify self.

Holy Spirit: You would have a helper in the Holy Spirit who will speak to you and guide you every step of the way if you would take heed, be still enough to listen and submit.

So before you speak or act on emotions…stop..breathe..think..What would Jesus do?
